Release of Contractures by Subcutaneous Pedicled Rhomboid Flaps

چکیده
The subcutaneous pedicled rhomboid flap is a technique that can release scar contractures without skin graft or additional flap. This study was planned to evaluate the efficacy of this technique. This prospective interventional study was conducted in the department of Plastic Surgery, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, over a period of 16 months. A total of 28 procedures of subcutaneous pedicled rhomboid flap were performed on 12 patients. The contractures were released successfully by the rhomboid flaps. The mean percentage gain in length of the scar band was 77.28%. Most of the cases had complication free recovery. The clinical results indicated that the subcutaneous pedicled rhomboid flap is an effective and versatile technique for releasing scar contractures in different parts of the

Third refinement in rhomboid release of contractures by adding four-flap z-plasties.
Rhomboid release has been utilized in the reconstruction of flexion contractures. In this study a new refinement of the rhomboid subcutaneous flap with a combination of adjacent four-flap Z-plasties on both sides is presented. Satisfying functional results were obtained, keeping the rhomboid flap and the structures on the rhomboid flap in their original position. The new design of the previous ...

BACKGROUND Although many precautions have been introduced into early burn management, post burn contractures are still significant problems in burn patients. In this study, a form of Z-plasty in combination with relaxing incision was used for the correction of contractures. METHODS Preoperatively, a Z-advancement rotation flap combined with a relaxing incision was drawn on the contracture lin...
متن کاملPostburn Knee Flexions Contractures: Anatomy and Methods of Their Treatment
Knee postburn scar flexion contractures, making up 22% of large joint contractures [1], affect the leg motion, impair the lower extremity function, present cosmetic defects, and requiring surgical treatment. The contracted scars undergo (during joint extension) severe tension, tearing, and often are converted to pathologic scars-rough, thick, solid, prone to keloid growth and ulceration. Review...
متن کاملA review and critical appraisal of central axis flaps in axillary and elbow contractures
Contractures of the axilla and elbow can produce a significant impact on quality of life by reducing the ability to perform activities of daily living. Varieties of techniques are available for resurfacing defects following contracture release but graft or flap loss, donor-site morbidity, esthetics, and recurrences are still challenges for reconstructive surgeons. Central axis "propeller" flaps...

BACKGROUND Current teaching suggests increased perfusion in free transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flaps over pedicled TRAM flaps, broadening indications for its use in high risk patients. This study compared perfusion analysis of free muscle-sparing versus pedicle TRAM flaps in vivo in the peri-operative and late post-operative periods. METHODS The SPY-Elite system using...
